St.Mary's Province was formed on june25, 1985 at the Mother House of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Destitute, in Chunangamvely following the division of the Congregation into three Provinces. At the time of division, it had 371 Professed sisters in 32 houses spread over to Ernakulam Archdiocese, Irinjalakuda in Kerala and Bijnor and Rajkot dioceses in North India A new Province called Santhidham has been formed on july 25, 2000 comprising the mission centers of St. Mary's Province having 130 sisters and 21 houses. At present St.Mary's Province has 435 Professed sisters in 49 houses in the following dioceses- Ernakulam Archdiocese (29), Thrissur (4), Irinjalakuda (4), Palakkad (2), Mananthavady (4), Bangalore (1), Mandya (2), Kenya (2) Simdega (1)
